Name of Contest: “Where’s Harold?”
First, a little background on the contest. Harold was a remarkable man—a true social butterfly.
He loved to mingle with the crowd, always smiling and engaging in casual conversations
wherever he went.
Although Harold didn’t drive, that didn’t stop him from heading out almost every day to auction
sales, livestock sales barns, churches, and parks, where he would chat and visit with familiar
faces. His unique mode of travel was hitchhiking; if there were a manual on how to hitchhike
successfully, Harold would surely have been its author. He managed to get rides to anywhere
he wanted to go, often venturing many kilometers from his home on the farm. If you’d like to
read more about Harold’s life, please check out the blog on the Highlands North Network
website: https://www.highlandsnorthnetwork.ca/.
Now for the fun part! In fond memory of Harold, we are taking him on some digital adventures
on the pages of the Highlands North Network website. Sometime between 8:00 AM and 4:00
PM on the 15th of each month, we will embed a tiny image of Harold, the social butterfly,
somewhere on the website. He could be up north on the Darling White Lake Centre page, the
White Lake Sports Centre page, or mingling with the Middlevillers at the Middleville Community
Centre. Perhaps he will be checking the calendar to plan his next outing or reading the
news—something he loved to do. He could be anywhere! We’ve shrunk the image
considerably, so you'll have to look closely to find him. This is the image you will
be looking for, only way smaller:

How to Win: Be the first to post a message on the Highlands North Network Facebook Page,
letting us know that you found Harold and indicating which page you found him on. The first
person to find him wins! Please call us at the Highlands North Network right away, and will set you up with a complimentary lunch. Our phone number is 343-760-2000. Got it? The winner
will be announced on the Facebook page and on the website’s banner.
Some time before the 15th of the next month, head over to Village Treats on the main street in
Lanark, directly across from the Post Office, and say, “I found Harold.” Then, enjoy a $25.00
lunch on us! They offer yummy soups and sandwiches and will be throwing in a couple of their
delicious homemade chocolates.
If you live out of town and can’t make it to Lanark, consider donating your prize to a local
person. We will make sure that a deserving senior gets to go in your place.
The contest starts May 15th . Good luck!
